What to say in your first message
Updated 29 October 2026
Keep it short and clear
A strong first message has three things: a greeting, your general area, and the rough time you have in mind. That's enough to start. Long messages or vague ones slow things down.
Be respectful from the first word
You're contacting an independent person, not a service line. Courtesy gets a better response. Avoid explicit demands in an opening message and don't push for personal details that aren't offered.
Use the channel they listed
Contact using the phone, text or email shown on the profile — not another channel you found elsewhere. If they list a preference, follow it.
